As with most things at Caldwell their winemaking is a little different than most. First off, everything they make (other than their Smuggler Pinot Noir) is crafted from fruit grown in their own vineyard which means everything they make is 100% estate. Every wine, white and red alike - is fermented and aged in 100% French oak barrels, and they’re the first winery in the U.S., that they know of, who’s got their own on-site barrel cooperage and full-time Master Cooper (one of only 30 in the entire world).
Why not host a small number of private tasting experiences inside their 20,000 square foot cave. Tastings last approximately 1.5 hours and usually include a half dozen of their current release wines (alongside some tall tales and sometimes a few four-letter words).
