Sustainability is central to Harris Organic’s philosophy of vineyard management; they favour the slow food process of wine production - vital to physical and environmental health. In wine-making yjey use minimal artificial energy sources. For example we built an underground cellar to obtain naturally cooler storage temperatures while our wines likewise mature in oak barrique and hogsheads, ultimately sealed in recyclable glass bottles and natural cork. They use very small amounts of electricity in producing a litre of organic wine compared with the Australian average for wine production. The other part of their mission is to produce the best hot climate micro-batch organic wines available, and as part of a peer review process they stand up well in their local wine show against all other wines from the Swan Valley region.
They are always happy to receive visitors to our cellar door. They have a $10.00 per person wine tasting charge which is refundable upon organic wine purchase. This is because they make very small quantities of wine, although the quality of our wines is well worth the visit.
