Planted in 1996, their 15,000 vines include Shiraz, Cabernet, Semillon and Riesling. All of their vines are drip irrigated and grown on open trellising, exposing the fruit to breezes and sunlight, both important to build the intensity of flavour in the fruit. The vineyard is also blessed with warm sunny days during the ripening season and cool nights which build acid and assist the wines to age gracefully.
Now, all year round , you can enjoy an Alfresco lunch at Blacklea, in a new enclosed facility, overlooking Lake Shiraz.
Open 12 noon to 3pm every Saturday and Sunday, the menu changes regularly but always includes Blacklea-on-a-Plate, a degustation (for one) of beautiful flavours (including homemade terrine, chilli jam, smoked chicken, etc) surrounding mesclun lettuce drizzled with one of our Caramelised Vinegars/Vinaigrettes.
