The Schindler family planted the first 2ha of pinot noir and chardonnay in 1996. A further 4ha of pinot noir was planted on an ideal north-facing slope in 1999, and the first vintage followed in 2000. The cellar door offers traditional Austrian food and live Austrian music. They  are open the first full weekend of the month, serving traditional Austrian lunch on Sunday with their famous 'Weingarten' platters featuring European style smoked meats, pickles, cheeses, bread and gourmet delights.

Few enterprises have cast such a broad net over the tourist traffic in the Mornington Peninsula.
