Welcome to Lenton Brae. Established in 1982, Lenton Brae is a small family owned and operated Margaret River wine producer. Lenton Brae excels in the Margaret River specialities of blended Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and the varietals of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our wines are consistently recognised as being amongst the best of their type, with awards at regional, state and national competitions. The estate vineyard comprises some 8 hectares. Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon  predominate with smaller parcels of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Merlot.

Varieties planted  are sauvignon blanc, semillon, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, zinfandel and shiraz and these vines have provided source material for new blocks as the vineyard has expanded. The site has the luxury of ample water and classic deep gravelly soils. It is sheltered by surrounding bush and fanned by gentle south-westerly winds. The three cabernet sauvignon blocks are cane pruned. Row spacing is mostly 3 m, with 1.5 to 1.8 m vine spacing with predominantly vertical shoot positioning trellising. McHenry Hohnen’s winemaking ambitions reflect more than 30 years' of biological farming, grape growing and winemaking in Margaret River. Each wine is created to be a uniquely individual character; expressive of variety, season and growing site. They specialise in showcasing Single Vineyard character through unadultered, minimal intervention handling. Where appropriate, varieties are blended but only when the outcome is a wine that will be greater than the sum of its parts.

Eagle Vale is a slightly out of the way, but brilliantly hidden gem, in the Margaret River region. Only 10 minutes out of town, you should put it on top of your must-visit wineries next time you're down south. Their range of wines is small, with only 4 or 5 on offer to taste. But what they lack in quantity, they make up for in quality - some of the most full-bodied, tasty wines.
