Bubbling stew pots of tender meat welcome you as you walk into this establishment that's known for a wet-style taco called Guisados. Try their spicy cochinita pibil or a vegetarian-friendly calabacitas taco made with squash blossoms. They also have excellent agua frescas, and the tortillas are made by hand multiple times throughout the day. What's more is that it's cheap. The prices fluctuate depending on the daily specials, but you'd be hard pressed to spend more than $10 including drinks. About 10-15 kinds of tacos, including chicken, beef, pork, or fish. Vegetarian choices include calabacitas (squash and corn), black bean and cheese, and hongos (mushroom). MENU
Nice atmosphere, once you sit down it's pretty relaxing, with soft lighting and decent acoustics so it doesn't feel like you can hear everyones' conversations. But be prepared for a serious line at all hours of the day. For just under $7—or about two slices at most places—you can get a whole 12-inch Neapolitan style pizza Margherita fresh out of a wood-fired oven. Fresh toppings, ranging from a variety of imported Italian cheeses to Manila clams, are all at your disposal, though we recommend trusting their specialty pies to avoid experimenting with topping combinations that could potentially go awry.
All of their pizzas are made in-house and by hand. They use locally-grown produce, and humanely-raised meats and eggs whenever possible. The slice options are diverse, including a Sicilian slice and a vegan section. Also salads, apps, beer & wine, and decent soft drinks. The crust has the perfect balance of crispy outside and chewy inside. The toppings are fresh, the meat isn't greasy, the sauce has the right sweetness that separates pizza sauce from marinara. MENU
Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich meld their prodigious talents to bring Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza to the heart of Los Angeles. Mozza has some of the best pizza I've had in Los Angeles. It's a loud place, bustling with a strange mixture of wealthy old Hancock park families and wealthy young hipsters conversing over wine and pizza. MENU
Chicago Deep Dish goes West Coast! At just over $20 for a large, deep dish pizza this food-to-money ratio cannot be beat. The food is good if you're a vegan, but you want to make sure you let them know that you want the vegan menu. The deep fish is their speciality and the house specials are the way to go, unless you're really craving something specific. The pizza is extremely filling so recommend that you get the small and share it. MENU

Excellent vegetarian breakfast, lunch, brunch fare in the heart of Highland Park. Super cute mint and pink decor. Everything I've tried here is amazing - the tempeh ruben, moros cakes, etc. and the black iced tea is strong. A great fresh, healthy, veggie, vegan spot in Highland Park. Every item on their menu is worth it and delicious. Great coffee and strong cold brew. MENU

While the dinner is amazing, and the view is outstanding, you must check out Mister A's for Sunday brunch and happy hour during the week! Located in the city center, Bertrand is probably the best restaurant to have such a tremendous view. Dining on a large balcony wrapping around the building, you enjoy a spectacular panoramic view.
