If you consider yourself a croissant connoisseur, you know that the ones at Matchstick are among the top competitors in the city and are untouchable as far as almond croissants are concerned.
Great selection of chocolates, always fresh and so many items to choose from, highly recommended, especially the ice cream bar dipped in white chocolate.
The place is mostly organic and they have a little café that serves raw, organic and vegan foods. The food is fairly priced for what you get and extremely tasty! Lots of gluten free options, the freshness of the food is top notch!

An outstanding selection of chocolates in all shapes and flavors from this long established store. Worth a look.
Beautiful chocolates and helpful service. Their chocolates would make a beautiful gift or a splurge for yourself! They have nice packaging and some really great flavours for their chocolates.
Portuguese egg tarts and chestnut sponge cake are great.This place is always packed, and with good reason. The cakes are beautiful and intricate, but the specialties are all the buns. The coconut cocktail buns and the barbeque pork buns in particular are tops!
The wall of tea may be intimidating at first, but the staff at this David's Tea location are fantastic. They're enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and more than willing to give you tons of recommendations. You even get a free sample of tea every time you walk into the store. Website.
Beta 5 was chosen as one of North America's Top 10 Chocolatiers in 2012. Excellent chocolates, pastries, sweet delights... but a bit overpriced. BETA5 chocolates "are produced in small batches using ethically sourced estate chocolates and premium ingredients.
The best Chinese bakery in Vancouver. The bbq'd pork and pineapple bun are very good. Soft, flavourful, with a lovely, flaky sweet crust. Friendly people at the counter too.
The teas and the service here are amazing. This is serious tea here. We're talking estate teas from China, Japan, India and Korea(!) where harvest year and tea-making process significantly matters. We're talking ceremonial bowls, handmade tea filters, charcoal logs for boiling water and a rare matcha-grinding machine made by Japanese craftsmen. Website
Good food everytime, eat in and take out. You get exactly what you expect and it does wonders to satisfy your meat cravings. he food here quite frankly is FANTASTIC and they've got the local awards hanging on the wall to prove it.
A beautiful little spot tucked away at the edges of "respectable" Gastown, Cadeaux is mostly a working kitchen and a counter featuring the daily spread, but there are a few places to sit down, and if you can manage to snag one it's a great place to sit and have a leisurely coffee or tea and chat with a friend. The variety alone is impressive. The fragant aroma is something to be savored. Sit for as long as your like, for it's a huge pot of tea you're drinking. The tea is so good, you don't need sugar. All the foods are said to be "tea-infused" (so steamed in tea), even the "earl grey" cheesecake we had. Website
