For the cake.

  • 300 gr. flour
  • 45 gr. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 gr. soft butter or margarine
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup raisens/sultanas (optional)

For the syrup.

  • 550 gr. of water
  • 250 gr. sugar
  • 250 gr. dark rum
  • zest of one unwaxed lemon

Optional (for serving)

 It is a sweet with average difficulty, but with long preparation times. So if you are going to prepare, equip yourself with a lot of patience and your efforts will be rewarded!

Making the cake

Mix the eggs with the sugar, baking powder and butter. Then add the flour and salt and knead.
When the mixture is well blended, let rise for 30 minutes.

Making the syrup
