Raisin Halwa


Yield 4 Servings

Main Ingredient Semolina


1 cup semolina 

3/4 cup sugar

3 cups water

2 tablespoons raisins

1/4 teaspoon cardamom seed

1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter) or butter


1 Mix the water & sugar in a saucepan. Boil  till the water reduces by half . Turn off the heat & add the raisons.

2 In a separate pan warm up the ghee on medium high and add cardamom seeds and semolina. Keep on stirring it till the semolina turns a golden brown.

3 Continue stirring for about  10 minutes making sure that the semolina does not stick or burn

4 Add the sugar water & cook it for 6-7 mins on high.

5 Once the water evaporates & the semolina puffs up  little bit, cover  & let it simmer for another 5 minutes.

6 Place halwa in a serving dish. Sprinkle some chopped dry fruits on top

7 Serve while hot
