Looking for Japanese and Korean sweets and snacks? This is the place to go. They also have some refrigerator and freezer cases with frozen desserts, dumplings and kimchi. It's small so you probably won't find all of the ingredients you need to cook a giant dinner, but this is one of the nicest Korean/Japanese groceries I've found in London. They have tones of sweets, noodles and rice cookers. Frozen food, cupboard food etc.
The small shop is hidden inside the Finnish church in London, a well kept secret among the Finnish people. But the shop, as well the church, welcomes anyone and is open like any other shop. In case you are looking for a good rye bread, salt licorice, gloudberry jam or any other Finnish treat on mind - this is where you will find it.
A little Italian deli and grocery shop tucked away in the Shad Thames area. They have a selection of antipasti for purchase by weight, cakes, Italian pasta, canned goods and charcuterie. Bright, airy and not inexpensive. uthentic Italian. good for coffee, bottles of wine, and other imported stuff. mini cannolis are tempting for sure.
Huge and fabulous shop. They don't just do feta, they do loads of different types of feta plus all sorts of halva, hummus, biscuits, drinks most of the stuff you'd get in a 'normal' supermarket, but with a whole different slant. And not just confined to Turkish either. They have a sweets counter, and shelves of Greek and Turkish breads. There is always a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables and it's usually good.
The shop acually extends out of the back into the alleyway where you'll find their selection of fresh vegetables and shellfish in aerated tanks. Not as big as Gerrard street stalwarts like Loong Fung or Loon Moon, nevertheless, there is a nice selection of goods over 3 floors. Some of the restaurants look to be trying to draw in the tourists but Golden Gate is authentically for the local population.
This market is a proper southeast Asian/Chinese market. They have a lot of vegan meatsIf you need a Thai or Vietnamese cooking ingredient it is a fair bet that Starnight has it! It's a large shop, packed with stuff. Noodles, sweets, dried stuff, fresh vegetables. Plus all the fresh produce and spices you need to make your curries, both Thai and Chinese.
One of few Asian markets that specialises in Korean groceries. Delicious prepared foods (takoyaki, anyone?), the usual dry and canned goods, a small freezer section and refrigerated section, and plenty of great produce displayed out front. Pretty great resource if you don't want to go into chinatown.
Selling a variety of healthy organic groceries along with a good range of vegetarian/vegan foods including tofu and spreads, Sesami is great for grabbing supplies from on the way home from work, and there's even a cafe/coffee shop element. They sell vinegar, spices, honey, goat milk, pesto - all of their stock is organic and most of it is locally sourced. VISIT SITE
Chinese supermarket with some Thai, Japanese and Korean items plus Chinese vegetables, small fresh fish counter and frozen food section. Friendly service too. Here you can buy favorites such as 'koh kae' peanuts, really nice ramen, fresh miso, whole (living) crabs and lobsters.
An English Supermarket with a mainly German background. Selling all the normal English shoppingsbut also the German specials you only can find in Lidl. Lidl is a bargain basement level supermarket which specialises in economy style food. Genuine and good German quality.
