Essex Market is an indoor market with a bunch of vendors, some in stalls and some in the same open space. The Porto Rico stall while not as comprehensive as their other shops is still great for a fresh coffee and supplies.
Fantastic local bodega. The food is fresh, the staff friendly. Anything you need in a pinch, you can probably get here. They have everything you could possibly need from a decent beer selection to home made wine to a fresh deli and produce to soap.
Items from Ecuador, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba etc...etc...Produce is very inexpensive and the variety is mind blowing! Wonderful selection of Latin American products - every kind of fresh and dried chile pepper you can imagine and other South American products as well, like Peruvian dried potatoes and blue corn flour. They have all kinds of unique produce and ethnic grocery items as well as regular grocery items.
This is a Eastern European (Romanian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Macedonian) and Turkish market. This place is, quite literally, filled to the brim with affordable and hard to find goodies. Good selection of dried fruits, olives and nuts, pickled goods, preserves, desserts, breads, small selection of cheese, tinned and dried meats and charcuterie from Europe and a couple of local makers. The sign in the front boasts of "Gourmet Romanian Specialties" along with European and Mediterranean food, The place is vast for an ethnic grocery, with a deli on one side making fresh foods. Wide variety of cheeses-feta, khasher etc. They have cold cuts, sausages from all different places. Nuts, bread, lahmajoons, jams, pastry section and the list goes on and on.
Fantastic, fantastic place, the closest to being back in Russia that I have felt at any store. The produce here is more expensive than at many of the neighboring stores, but in terms of packaged foods, their selection is larger than any I have seen in the US and at very reasonable prices. They have an insane selection of prepared dishes, soups, salads, baked goods, etc
There's no better place to pick up authentic Russian foods that Odessa Grocery on Santa Monica blvd. The same friendly lady is always behind the counter when I come in and brightens my day. It's great to come buy delicious food from here but even better when you're served by such a sweetheart. A great place for Russian and all around traditional European foods. They have a nice deli section, fresh produce, baked goods, a lot of canned goods, frozen food, and nuts to name a some of their items.
Odessa is a small Russian type of store with much more items than you might imagine just looking at the sheer size of the venue. They feature a wide variety of Russian and Eastern European products. All the products are very fresh and delicious! It's clean, they have a great selection of home made goods, fish, cold cuts, fruits, and baked goods . Staff is nice, and there is plenty of parking.
An unassuming little Russian Deli/ grocery store, filled with interesting and unusual Russian imported foods and a deli counter stocked with fresh homemade meats, salads, dips and other treats. This is a fantastic, hidden, gourmet Russian deli, filled to the brim with glass cases and trays of stuffed cabbage, filets of fish, pickles, tomatoes, beets, onion salads, cous-cous, rices, beef and rice, breads, cheese filled blintzes, eggplant salads, cakes, refrigerators full of yogurt, sour cream, milk, butter, many from Russia, and many shelves of Russian products such as baby food, oatmeal, cookies, jams and jellies and honey.
Great little Russian store with authentic russian food, grocery, herbs and supplements. This is one of the better Russian food stores. Friendly cashiers, and overall just a well taken care of Russian family store.. good atmosphere! Everything is fresh and ripe!
