This is a wonderful grocery store - they have sort of an eccentric selection of Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European groceries. Great fresh produce, nice assortment of ethnic food and pastries too. Neighborhood gem! Their meat selection is diverse and of great quality. The prices are competitive with what is in the area. Some of their middle aisle products are a bit pricey. VISIT SITE
This market is a nice enjoyable surprise for a South American. With goods such as the delectable Argentine dulce de leche and meats and the hard-to-find Brazilian chocolates (including the sonho de balsas). They stock Alfajores Jorgito, Mantecol, dulce de leche, yerba mate and empanada dough. Great little Argentine market. The Empanadas are as good anywhere in the city and they are a great price.
Produce, which focus on Latin American, mostly Mexican and Puerto Rican groceries, HarvesTime doesn't limit itself to a single region of the world. There's a little bit of everything.Best (Latino/Greek/Russian?) market-type grocery store ever! Great selection of fresh, good-quality produce, super-cheap...not much in the way of organic produce Excellent produce, ethnic foods, and prepared foods section. Harvestime--fantastic produce and meats, and really well chosen specialty items from a variety of world cuisines. They have the most amazing cookie selection with cookies from all throughout the world. VISIT SITE
This is medium sized latino/hispanic grocery store, you will find items mostly from Central America and a few from South America, specially Colombia. This small grocery store with a cafe in back has many Spanish, Cuban and South American items that are hard to find elsewhere on the Northside.
It is the place every Mexican and Puerto Rican worth their sea salt shops for produce, meat and spices. There is a great butcher shop at Cermak, wonderful spices, endless produce (with an emphasis on fruits and vegetables favored by the Puerto Rican/Mexican community), and all the usual dry goods you would expect to find at a decent supermercado. Incredibly well-rounded inventory with all of the essentials, Mexican specialties PLUS vegetarian and organic goodies. They have a great selection of Mexican necessities (dried chiles, nopales, corn husks, cheeses, cheap avocados, etc.), a decent Asian section, and more recently some organic and specialty products. You can find all the usual grocery store stuff here too. Every single employee here loves their job! It's super cheap and they now carry "green" and organic products
This is a sweet and savory Guatemalan bakery - a hidden gem with a passionate owner. This is not like a Mexican bakery with dry, unsatisfying sweet breads. The ingredients are higher quality, my favorite is a rice flour cake they call a "quesadilla" not to be mistaken for the Mexican tortilla stuffed with melted cheese. It's gluten free, hearty and just sweet enough to not need anything.
They always have every spice you could possibly need or ever want to make a fantastic meal. They mail order your herbs & spices to you. The staff is friendly, and always able to offer suggestions. This is a great place to buy your Indian Spices.
Excellent place for bargain grocery shopping, especially if you want to pick up lots of ethnic specialty items (Mexican, Eastern European, Asian, Kosher, Middle Eastern, etc.). This place is HUGE, VERY well stocked, immaculately clean and the deals you can find here are outstanding. The produce prices are some of the best around. The bakery and meat departments are mouth-watering. VISIT SITE
A great little market with fresh, cheap produce and interesting Caribbean/Jamaican stuff, a good selection of Mexican items, and some interesting Brit items. Solid meats, excellent spices (for both Caribbean and Mexican cuisines), good produce.
