If you're into Japanese cooking you have to check out Nijiya. They're famous for their organic produce but if you want to make Shabu-Shabu or Sukiyaki at home you will find the best quality meat sliced exactly the way it's supposed to be. They have most of what you're looking for if you're making something of Japanese cuisine, however, their selections are smaller. It is a small market, but you will find most of what you need. This place is super clean. However, the veggies, meats and seafood selections are pricey. Lots of Japanese and Korean foods to choose from. They stock specialty foods like Sashimi, Shabu Shabu meats, fresh fish, shrimp, lobster, Asian fruits and veggies, Asian pastries and sometimes bento boxes for lunch.
Absolutely everything you need to make Sushi or other awesome seafood dishes. Their seafood is fresh and they carry a wide variety. This market is the cheapest overall for Korean meat and veggies. Great place for cheap Japanese & Korean produce! VISIT SITE
Although Tashkent is no longer in Russia but the capital of another country, Uzbekistan, it was a part of the USSR back in the day, thus we can still call it a Russian store. This is a small store but it is highly specialized with Russian and Uzbekistan foods. There is a small smoked fish counter, a much larger cheese and smoked meats area... lots of frozen dumplings. .. and the rest of the store is filled with produce and imported canned goods. They have Latvian Ice Cream. The selection of Eastern European goods is amazing. The prices as very reasonable as well. Great place for all your Russian, Armenian, and some Mediterranean foods. Great for Russian food especially! There is much variety here and good prices. I was really excited to find a great selection of desserts, deli meats, juices, and pickles... if it's Russian, you will find it here with lots of options! Great food at competitive prices, if you love Japanese style rice and groceries this is the place for you. Well stocked Japanese grocery store - they have everything from bento boxes to Shiseido shampoo and conditioners. The staff members are really polite and helpful. Although their groceries are a little expensive compare to others, but their products are all from Japan, and the skincare products are great. The bakery and cafe sells japanese pastries such as melon pan, strawberry shortcake, sugar toast, etc. Excellent selection of Japanese and other Asian products.They have a nice selection of sushi grade fish as well as a lot of other fresh seafood. They also had a magical wall of sauces - including every type of soy sauce, eel sauce, rice vinegar, or soup base you could ask for. VISIT SITE
This is a Japanese supermarket and deli combined. In the supermarket section, you have fresh grocery and packaged food ( think instant noodles, pockey , etc). Even though it is located in heat of Manhattan the prices are still in reasonable range compare to other Japanese supermarkets. Very cool little Japanese grocer market. In the front they have a large selection of prepared meals, both Japanese and Korean delicacies, rice balls, and sushi to go. VISIT SITE
They carry everything from vegetables, tofu, beer, candy, noodles, meat, bento & even Japanese incense!! At the front, they sell tchotchkes, like tea sets and bento boxes. All the Japanese goodies you need are available here-from beer, ramen, candies, and snacks. Prices are reasonable.
They pretty much have everything to make a Japanese meal, minus fresh seafood and meats. They sometimes have foods that you may not find in other Japanese/Asian grocers. Their cooked food is also amazing! The store carries everyday brands found in Japan as well as some hard to find specialty items. All the stuff are from Japan. Highly recommend to people who want to cook Japanese food.
