The store stocks basically everything you need in order to cook authentic Ghanaian food at reasonable prices. The owner, Valentin, is a delight to buy from and he will stop and chat with you as well. Highly recommended!

Remember before you grab your apron and start making the famous egyptian foul, get the canned fava beans from here. Plastic tubs of spices range from the mundane (cinnamon bark, cardamom pods) to the hard-to-find (several hot-and-spicy Ethiopian blends). Prices range from reasonable to insanely cheap.

This Indian grocery store had the best selection and service in the University City area. This is the place to get Indian groceries in Philadelphia. They've got such a tremendous selection of legumes, condiments, chaat mixes, nuts and fruits, I find things here that I can find nowhere else in the city. If you adore Ethiopian injeeras, you can get a nice sack of them to keep you full for days.
Penzey's is a great resource for spices, herbs, mixtures and flavorings, and it is near the top of the list of spice shops. They have tons of spices, neatly organized, next to large smelling pots of that spice. you can take a whiff, get a feel for what you may buy, and then choose accordingly. Also, their prices are reasonable.
