Well known to every Russian in Philadelphia is Netcost Market, a supermarket that specializes in Eastern European foods. This is destination shopping for every foodie in the know. Best Russian grocery store in Philly. Big variety, good prices and staff.
All around good place to shop, especially if you're looking for European food items. This place has tons of stuff. Older looking. Lots of ethnic Russian food products. The produce is great, good selection and low prices. They also have a very good selection of polish products
In this neighborhood, there are many Russian/Eastern European markets to choose from and this one is definitely one of the smaller ones. They do have a lot of great stuff and I feel like they are more polite to non-Russians here than some of the others in the neighborhood.
They are the absolute best when it comes to Polish food and the owner is such a great guy, he even frequently gives out hunks of kielbasa to people while they wait in line. The prices are extremely reasonable. The pierogies are spectacular and they have many different types (even dessert pierogies
You will appreciate the freshness, selection and the value. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. They have a great selection of pierogies and meat. Bread is very good, too
Penzey's is a great resource for spices, herbs, mixtures and flavorings, and it is near the top of the list of spice shops. They have tons of spices, neatly organized, next to large smelling pots of that spice. you can take a whiff, get a feel for what you may buy, and then choose accordingly. Also, their prices are reasonable.
