This Indian grocery store had the best selection and service in the University City area. This is the place to get Indian groceries in Philadelphia. They've got such a tremendous selection of legumes, condiments, chaat mixes, nuts and fruits, I find things here that I can find nowhere else in the city. If you adore Ethiopian injeeras, you can get a nice sack of them to keep you full for days.
The place has almost everything that's needed in a Middle Eastern kitchen! They have all sorts of arabic cheese, halal meat, vegetables, spices...etc
It's a huge indoor market - they sell everything from candles, linens, & numerous gift items, to donuts, fresh cannollis, beef jerky, pizza, and pretty much any type of food you can think of or imagine! An assortment of differing kinds of food, ranging from Asian, middle eastern, even to Amish! (there were in fact, a lot of Amish food). Always popping with energy and full of diverse options and delicious food.
In this neighborhood, there are many Russian/Eastern European markets to choose from and this one is definitely one of the smaller ones. They do have a lot of great stuff and I feel like they are more polite to non-Russians here than some of the others in the neighborhood.
The place to buy Picanha, the prime cut of meat served in Brazilian steak- houses (, top-cap-sirloin). The price of the meat in general is very competitive. Also has a variety of Brazilian products, including real Brazilian coffee for cheap.
A fantastic shop filled with specialty cheeses, meats, pasta, sauce and all good things Italian (and non Italian). The selection beyond the meat and cheese includes all types, colors, shapes, sizes, packages, etc. of pasta. There is a wide array of oils, and an even more specific display of olive oils. Other items include breads, sauces, crackers, and a massive jar of nutella
They are the absolute best when it comes to Polish food and the owner is such a great guy, he even frequently gives out hunks of kielbasa to people while they wait in line. The prices are extremely reasonable. The pierogies are spectacular and they have many different types (even dessert pierogies
They offer a good range of Middle Eastern groceries including Lebanese and Halal food.
