If you are a fan of Middle Eastern fare, you need to make a trip to Middle Eastern Bakery. It's a small store stocked with spices, grains, coffee, prepared food, dried fruit and more. But the icing on the cake of this experience was the customer service. The family and staff that run MEB are just lovely. Great candies, dried fruit, nuts and jordan almonds. There are also aisles of dried beans, a million spices and herbs, and jars of tahini, honey, yogurt, hot pepper paste, rose water and more. VISIT SITE
Excellent Arab grocery store - they have all the goodies! Go on Sunday, when they make their excellent pita bread - better than bread I've had in the Middle East - but go early, because they sometimes run out! Get large bottles of spices here, at a fraction of the price of the corporate groceries. Al Khayam has a decent selection of middle eastern canned goods, groceries, and cheeses, and a halal meat counter. They also have an awesome assortment of bulk spices, both whole and ground. In addition to all the usual Indian/Pakistani groceries, this store has a decent collection of Middle Eastern, Eastern European and Asian groceries as well. The grocery is very well organized, and very very clean. This grocery sells fresh produce, fresh ginger and little green chili peppers all the way to dry goods like lentils, and chick peas. This is a wonderful grocery store - they have sort of an eccentric selection of Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European groceries. Great fresh produce, nice assortment of ethnic food and pastries too. Neighborhood gem! Their meat selection is diverse and of great quality. The prices are competitive with what is in the area. The grocery store itself has all the middle eastern items you need. This supermarket is awesome! It has everything you need to make the perfect Middle Eastern meal. Nice sized parking lot so you don't have to pay for parking like the markets on Devon. It is a pretty big store and is well kept - very organized with directory signs in each aisle. A Vietnamese market first, and Asian grocer second. Tai Nam has a wide selection of Asian products, tightly packed into aisle after aisle of happiness. The produce such as oyster mushrooms are also quite fresh and very very reasonably priced. This is another great hole-in-the-wall grocery store for your Vietnamese or general Asian desires. t's a convenient location in the city for a Korean fix. They have a large amount of Korean groceries here considering the fact that there don't seem to be very many Koreans living in this area. There's a private parking lot and it's off the Kennedy Expressway. It's a small market, but they supply 90% of what a Korean would need. The other big bonus is that they have a small kitchen in the back that serves up great korean food for a low price. VISIT SITE
Basically this is your one stop shop for any Chinese groceries and cooking accessories in Chicago. There is a ton of different foods, always fresh, and good. This is a good place to go for veggies, hot pot meats, meatballs, and basically any other Chinese groceries that you need. They also have a butcher with lots of meat and a big selection of anything you can think of. Hong Kong Market has a good selection of frozen food especially dumplings. It also has a nice selection of noodles and Chinese spices and sauces.
The inventory is well-stocked and the aisles are neat. Excellent selection of Thai products: Soy sauces, shrimp paste, pickled veg. Good produce selection, for Southeast and Far East Asian cuisines. Nice selection of frozen seafood. The aisles are sorted (somewhat) by region and culture. They also have a great selection of fresh produce. This store is pretty clean, neat, and user-friendly. The people who work there are so nice and knowledgeable.
