AJ's differentiates from Whole Foods by focusing less on the "all natural" and organic slant and more on gourmet (expensive), unique, and imported items. they carry a wide variety of brands, and don't focus as much on packaged and frozen foods. The bakery is really fantastic, the seafood and prime beef here can't be beat.
Edible flowers for crystallizing, espresso powder for meat rubs, fancy pants mushrooms, high quality chocolate, duck fat, mangosteens outside of an Asian grocer, the works - real gourmet fare. They have a lot of UK and South Africa things that I simply cannot find anywhere else. Great wine selection and always there to lend a hand. Fresh fruit and veg amazing. Tons of gourmet mustards, olive oils, beautiful produce and a fantastic deli with freshly prepared salads, Mexican food and more.
This is not a "cute" and eclectic grocery store the trendy crowd will venture to. It's a very unassuming nuts and bolts Middle Eastern grocery store. The Mediterranean food here is the place to go. It s busy, yet not chaotic or loud. There is plenty of seating space and it is shared with their supermarket.

This is a place to grab a quick bite or take-out. Reasonably priced, authentic and as a bonus you can shop for Mexican staples. El Ranch has a great selection, excellent fresh salsa, great carne asada, excellent bakery selection, and fresh roasted chilis at the front registers
The produce is always fresh, and the tortilla's are the best in town.. Also don't forget the wide selection of Mexican cheeses and the fresh salsa. They have amazing tamales! But you have to get there early to get them because they run out. This is a regular grocery store with a deli, meat/fish counter, aisles and aisles of product, produce area, bakery with fresh bread and sweets, and a tortilla area with fresh corn and flour tortillas.
