A local grocery store that isn't part of a big box chain. All products are organic as the name suggests and are reasonably priced. There is a wide range of products from fruits, veggies, beans and flours that are stored in large cookie jars for bulk or pre-packaged. Web site.
This spot covers all the bases needed for Italian cooking from 2 rows of dried imported pastas to a fresh deli and cheese counter. Lots of packaged and canned goods from Europe as well. A nice selection at reasonable prices. Offerings in their deli include cheeses (bocconcini in 3 sizes), an impressive selection of olives (4 varieties of cerignola alone), and a nice variety of italian ham and cured sausage. Web site.
This is a very small kosher grocery including a selection of frozen kosher meat. Very difficult to locate - you must enter from the back alley. You will not find the location on Kingsway itself. The offerings are quite limited at times, but sometimes you can find some interesting cuts of meat.
If you're looking for everything you could dream of in the kosher department, except for meat, you'll find it here. Pini's is a relatively small store, but they sell all kinds of kosher goods and goodies from chocolate to gefilte fish and beyond.
This store is practically a supermarket of Mediterranean foods: an excellent meat counter complements an extensive collection of Middle Eastern breads; a truly amazing selection of frozen foods complements beautifully prepared foods like olive, pickles, sun-dried tomatoes in oil, as well as great sweets and spices. The store stocks all types of Mediterranean & Middle Eastern products including olives, olive oils, cheeses, Spices, sweets, and many more. They also daily prepare fresh Halal meats including Veal, Beef, Lamb, and Chicken. Web site.
Nice little specialty store for kosher foods. Even got kiddie for my cholent. Friendly and helpful staff. Shelves are loaded with chocolate coins, soups, beans, matzo (including spelt) potato starch (for gluten free cooking), lots of dill pickles and a very large variety of dry noodles.
They really do have good prices for produce and the grocery items, many Turkish and Iranian, aren't expensive either. They have fresh herbs in the summer and amazing middle eastern fare (spices, bread, canned goods) inside. Plenty of sheep's cheese and amazing flat breads. Possibly the only place downtown where fresh produce can actually be considered "cheap" at times..
The Halal Meat Market is more than just meat! With a huge selection of Mediterranean and middle eastern specialties. heir cuts of meat are reasonably priced and they also carry a number of frozen meat and meal options in the huge freezers at the far right of the store.
This place is amazing. Great prices on fresh produce and the best value for Korean foods in Vancouver.
