Great store especially if you're looking for Caribbean products. It seems generally aimed at a Hispanic population with its vast array of Latin American food, but it also knows it's near some pretty yuppie/hippie neighborhoods, and carries things like soy yogurt and organic granola and a pretty good selection of vegetarian options. They also have some ethnic products from Mexico, Indian, and Middle Eastern that are harder to find elsewhere.
They have a good selection of both Mexican and American groceries and the staff is very warm and friendly. The place is well lit and very clean. it looks like the groceries get refilled/rotated quite regularly.The deli in this little bodega makes the best sandwiches around.

Instead they sell fresh produce, homemade Indonesian snacks, bulk tofu, some meats, various Asian and Mexican products (palm sugar, fish sauce, Bimbo cakes, shrimp crackers, tortillas, weird Indonesian ramens with like 50 spice and flavoring packets, queso fresco, etc), fresh baked pastries, all at very cheap prices. Seriously, as cheap as you think it might be, it is cheaper.
A good, neighborhood Taqueria and Mexican grocery! If you're looking for Mexican groceries they have the standards, fresh chorizo, vegetables, mexican cheeses, etc...

If you want to fill your pantry with real Mexican products (as opposed to American-Mexican products), you can get what you need here. If you're lookin for it, they probably have it: Tapatio, El Yucateco, Cholula, Valentina, and on and on. Most are significantly less expensive than if you were to buy them at a Supermarket
They have a wide selection of meats, vegetables, Mexican foods and items, and lo and behold, a quaint counter for their kitchen menu: different tacos, tamales, and tortas. Specializing in selliing things like Jarritos, tomatillos, dried chiles, cotija cheese, and of course meats, this Meat Market also sells homemade tortilla chips and tamales!

Penzey's is a great resource for spices, herbs, mixtures and flavorings, and it is near the top of the list of spice shops. They have tons of spices, neatly organized, next to large smelling pots of that spice. you can take a whiff, get a feel for what you may buy, and then choose accordingly. Also, their prices are reasonable.
