Whole Foods has selections for special dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, GF, paleo, nut-free, soy-free, no transfat, etc. The list just goes on. They are also big on local and organic and educating the public about genetically modified organisms and the negative effects it has on our health and environment.
The best place to get fresh produce. If you are not an organic, healthy person there is a lot of this store that you won't care for. But, you can always find the fresh foods at decent prices. And then there is a whole bunch of brands and products to cater to the selective consumers. It's a farmer's market, bakery, butcher shop, sweets paradise, wine shop, restaurant and cooking class...all in one.
Best lil gem for organic foods or any specialty food items you may be looking for! Grest place for gluten-free, raw, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, etc, this is the place to go if you live in DTLA.
The food is natural/raw/vegan/gluten-free. Can't beat that at all! Raw organic living food. Smart selection of supplements. Everything is super healthy and delicious.
This grocery store has everything you need if you are looking to make a Thai dish. They even have items imported from Thailand including kitchen utensils. All vegetarians should be shopping here! The extensive mock meat section far surpasses your Whole Foods wet dream. It's Taiwanese imports, but it the same stuff your eating at most Thai or Chinese vegetarian restaurants. Plus their selection of aromatic herbs is outstanding: Lemongrass, Purple Basil, Kaffir Lime, Jalapenos... and so on.
It's not a fancy restaurant. It's really a grocery store with one side dedicated to informal dining. The food taste fresh and the staff is friendly. Inside is a grocery store, they carry spices, drinks, yogurts, rice, and lentils, etc. VISIT SITE
They have a small market with interesting items and good coffee, tea and desserts. It has a nice old world charm and it's part cafe and part boutique. In the boutique you can find traditional Ethiopian products like Frankincense, Ethiopian spices ( Berbere) and music. There is a wide variety of teas and traditional food. VISIT SITE
A vegetarian food store serving San Francisco and the Bay Area since 1975. They offer the widest selection of organic and locally sourced products at the most affordable price and a resource to the community to exchange information about the health and sustainability of the foods we put on our tables.
Great vegan/gluten free products along with raw milk. This organic mini grocery store not only carries all new vegan products but has a mini deli that is famous for their Pulled Pork sandwich and burgers. This place has the best vegan burgers & burritos.
The best way for me to describe Mariano's would be Whole Foods + Safeway combined, they have a glorious dine - in area, plus a very large selection of organic, and non - organic foods. Prices are a bit higher than an average grocery store, but not as much as Whole Foods. Great quality and good prices. Sushi bar, oyster bar, juice bar, and wine bar all inside for you to enjoy while you shop. The service at Mariano's is classy and top notch and their prices for most of the grocery items are fare.
Recommended for the gourmet food shopper looking for goodies not found in other places. They have a large selection of different meats, cheeses, and salads at the deli counter. They have German beers on tap, sandwiches made with their own sausages and potato pancakes. The vast deli cases offer homemade sausages in a dozen varieties (pork and blueberry breakfast sausage!), a full service butcher, and tons of prepared sides and salads. Upstairs houses condiments, jams, jellies, jars of pickled veggies
This is such an adorable shop with a great selection of wines, cheeses, and specialty items. The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're making a selection you'll be happy with. Provenance is a cute shop that showcases wonderful artisan food stuffs as well as locally produced specialty items.
As with all health food stores, you'll find the usual kale-flax-chia suspects, veggie/gluten-free coupled with supplements you never knew existed. If you're new to the health food world, its shelf contents are enough to pique your curiosity. It has a huge selection of supplements, superfood powders, organic/non gmo vegetarian and vegan health foods here.

It's pricy but all based on weight so it's manageable...This place is so good, healthy food, salads, soups, hot foods fresh everyday, there will always be something that you fancy!! Local and fresh produce, a great drink selection, and available healthy meals on the go. They have options for vegans, veggies, and carnivores alike. Local and organic items range from spices, wine, beer, spirits, veggie/fruits, meats and cheeses.
Incredibly well-rounded inventory with all of the essentials, Mexican specialties PLUS vegetarian and organic goodies. They have a great selection of Mexican necessities (dried chiles, nopales, corn husks, cheeses, cheap avocados, etc.), a decent Asian section, and more recently some organic and specialty products. You can find all the usual grocery store stuff here too. Every single employee here loves their job! It's super cheap and they now carry "green" and organic products
The store is a grocery store/market with a café in the rear loft. The store sells a variety of Paleo, organic, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian (among other) food items. In the front of the store they feature fresh, chilled, prepared foods. They also carry a variety vitamins, minerals, cleansers, soaps, incense, lotions and different healthy(er) food choices
Mariano's fresh market is the place you want to be if you want to shop and eat at a fancy gourme/grocery store. Mariano's is an excellent grocery store, lots of fresh and organic produce, has some international products (albeit one isle per region), all at a reasonable price. The fruits and veg are fresh and separated by organic and non organic. There is a great selection of cheeses which is near the sushi bar.
Goddess and the Grocer is like a renaissance man of food stores. From take out to gourmet gift baskets this place offers a ton! They have a passion for their food -- not only flavor, but quality. The groceries are varied beginning with dry groceries near the door all the way to prepared foods, dairy/beverages, wine and beer, and desserts near the back of the store,
A great place to grab a quick bite of authentic middle eastern food. Adeeb makes all his meals from scratch and the food is delicious, not to mention cheap! A falafel plate costs $4. It's more of a take out joint than sit down - not the quickest service but well worth the wait. There is also a little middle eastern market attached with all sort of odds and ends. Some mixed reviews. Summary ultra cheap, good tasting, dirty needs to be cleaned up, really friendly service, located by parcel 7 garage so if you don't work here just park and validate nearby.
A purveyor of fresh produce, seafood, meat, cheese and charcuterie, prepared side and main dishes, soups, fresh baked breads, desserts, pastries and imported or specialty canned spices, jams, pasta and coffees. Rich chocolates, artesian breads, international teas, exotic flowers, succulent fruit, specialty coffee & spices. Obscure condiments, organic sugars. Hand cut meats & European cheese.
Best place in the slope to pick up cured meats and cheese from Europe at reasonable prices. Lots of British snacks and candies, freshly baked bread, and a splendid selection of charcuterie and cheese. They have so much to offer when it comes to cured meats, cheeses, fancy chocolates, coffees, olives and baked goods.Various unique and foreign delicacies offered in a cozy little shop.
Not a complete gourmet store by any means, it's surprising the variety of things they have there tucked in the corners that one may need in order to rescue a meal at the last minute. As far as the grocery selection, it's pretty good. They have a lot of stuff you wouldn't expect your corner deli to have. But the best part is how nice everyone is.
Nice selection of gourmet foods and groceries with shorter lines than the nearby Whole Foods. Garden of Eden has their own brand of hummus and dips; they are good! The selection of gourmet and organics foods are a but pricey. Garden of Eden has an amazing selection of produce, prepared foods, and some dry goods staples. The cheese selection is to die for and arguably way better than Whole Foods.
They have gourmet groceries, prepared meals, olive oil tastings (and other samples), and fresh produce. The meat and fish counters have great quality stuff - and you can get all sorts of hard to find produce. They have a huge selection of foods at every price point. On the pricier side of supermarkets, but what else do you expect with a store filled with local, natural, organic, and supposedly higher quality foods?
Grocery-wise there is no place that could beat the wild olive. It's filled with organic food, as well as some Asian sauces that are useful when you want some quick dishes. They do have a great offering of organic and specialty items. Fresh produce: small but decent selection of boxed organic salad greens, interesting seasonal greens like amaranth or turnip greens, herbs and basic vegetables with occasional treats like fresh chickpeas. Also fresh chiles and lemon grass, which are hard to find in the hood
Great specialty store. It has a wide selection of products for any kind of health aware eater - gluten free, vegan, dairy free, casein free... You name it! The store has a big selection. One of the best health food stores in all of Manhattan. They carry almost every protein, vitamin, herb, raw and natural ingredient imaginable. Everything in the store is reasonably priced and affordable.
Literally anything you could want from a grocery store, unexpectedly in the Bronx. 50 kinds of beer? 100 kinds of cheese? A dozen types of vegan/vegetarian meat substitute? Ethnic and global cuisine, all types of pastas, artisanal and specialty items, olive bar, pre made dishes as good as Zabar's or Fairway. The prepared food section is fantastic.
This is a beautiful gourmet grocery store that has recently upgraded and expanded their cafe, even adding outdoor seating. They essentially have everything you could possibly need to cook up that feast you've been planning. Agata & Valentina seriously has everything you could possibly imagine - fresh vegetables and fruits, incredible cheese stand, entire butcher department, fish department, dessert department, fresh pasta ..... who can ask for anything more? This place is a food lovers dream.
Friendly guys and great assortment of food items you won't see most places. This place is like finding a buried treasure. Just look at the shelves and there will surely be something to catch your eye.
Essene is our go to place for vitamins, supplements, and natural foods. This place is old school veggie, vegan, macro-food. Great vitamin & beauty department here. love the bulk herb section! It is absolutely my favorite. They have everything from parsley to vanilla beans to chamomile.
The store is very clean and has a great selection of groceries as well as sandwiches and prepared foods. This is a great place to eat vegetarian sandwiches! Never busy, but they are always smiling in there. They have La Colombe coffee, a number of hard to find grocery items (like Wink ice cream!), lots of healthy snacks, and even produce.
Great gourmet grocery store with all the amenities right in the heart of downtown Philly. Great, spacious gourmet market in Center City. They carry it all, elaborate, fancy cheeses and meats for charcuterie, fresh veggies and fruits, and an extensive pastry and breads assortment accompanied by a coffee bar. This location has full fish, meat, and cheese counters in addition to a bakery, plus all of the typical gourmet/hard-to-find prepared products that makes DiBruno Bros great.
Great store especially if you're looking for Caribbean products. It seems generally aimed at a Hispanic population with its vast array of Latin American food, but it also knows it's near some pretty yuppie/hippie neighborhoods, and carries things like soy yogurt and organic granola and a pretty good selection of vegetarian options. They also have some ethnic products from Mexico, Indian, and Middle Eastern that are harder to find elsewhere.
The grocery store seems to have everything you need to venture into the exciting world of Indian cooking.
Trader Joe's is a healthy food store as in you can find your gluten free, low carb, low salt kind of stuff, but their junk food is awesome as well. "Whole", "natural", and "organic" foods are the buzz words.
Whole foods is our go to place for groceries. From the clean friendly environment to the healthy food they offer, whole foods is the place to go! Everything is fresh. They have excellent salad bars and the staff is always very friendly.
Excellent food and amazing service! This is BY FAR the best Vegan/ Vegetarian spot in Houston, TX. The location is a bit out of the way, but it is definitely worth the trip. Small grocery section.
Their produce is super fresh and very very reasonably priced. There is also a huge selection of fresh fish and other meat. they have such a HUGE selection of vegetarian stuff, including faux meats, veggie dumplings of various flavors, pancakes, and other appetizers which normally only come in either pork or chicken or shrimp varieties! Everything you need is here. VISIT SITE
