Schreiners is the real deal! The weiners, brats and sweet Italian sausages are as good as in Germany and Italy. Great selection of homemade sausages and smoked meat. Nice samples. Prompt, courteous service. Great value!
Much like the best delicatessens, the food is ethnic. Eastern European sausage is their specialty. You can get other stuff, and it is also good. However their selection of handmade Eastern European sausage is absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend the double smoked and the spicy Hungarian hanging on the wall, as well as their fresh Polish sausage.
This is a well-stocked Eastern European food market. You will find many, many products from Russia and former Soviet countries. Try the selection of wines, or one of many Kabasa or fish from the meat counter. This is basically a large specialty market. It mainly carries Russian items as well as a lot of Moldavian, Armenian, Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Georgian items
This is only a small deli with four tables. They have food items that they'll prepare for you in the back. Recommend this place to anyone looking for quality, made from scratch, authentic Eastern European food!
Babushkas deli is a treasure within itself, with many Russian (and Polish) choices that will make you feel right at home. They also import goods from Russia, which ads to the validity of the deli. This is more than just a little deli tucked away in a nondescript strip mall. They've got canned good, fresh fruit, dried goods, deli meats, fish and cheeses. They have an array of prepared foods.
The owners are of Russian descent but the shelves are lined with items from Eastern Europe, and Israel. Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia, Hungary, you'll find somethin' here. In the refrigerated section, pretty much any combination of beets, potatoes, and cabbage is available. As far as packaged goods, variation is no obstacle, and they have just about everything (or an alternative) to anything you might possibly want from the Motherland.

Without a doubt, Alexandra has the best pierogies in town. This place is a pierogi factory with a tiny storefront outlet along Central, but it seems all the Polish people know about it. Alexandra's is clean, neat, and organized. This is by far the best place to buy pierogi (this is plural spelling in Polish) in the Chicago vicinity. They make them with all the familiar stuffings known to Polish people. VISIT SITE

They've got tons of imported goodies, from candy to vegetables, as well as beverages. But most importantly is their deli section. They have a ton of meats and sausages for sale, and they also sell soups, sandwiches, and pastries
Great place for Polish items, and some Lithuanian items. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you go in, there are plenty of shelves packed full. They don't have as much in stock as Euromart down the road, but they still have a massive selection of breads, teas, and the ubiquitous Pickled Veg In Jars. You will find in this market, among other amazing imports, true Latvian rye bread, both the dark and light varieties.

All Polish goodies, excellent sausages. This meat market makes a huge variety of fresh and smoked meats in Polish and German styles. Everything is really inexpensive and high quality, Only thing to be aware of is that they do not speak English and what little they do speak is very limited. If you know what you want then no problem.
One of the last cute mom and pop delis left in the east village. This really nice older couple runs this store and have graced this block with an extraordinary selection of hand crafted Polish foods.
