This is one of the most historically significant winery buildings in the Barossa Valley, built from bluestone quarried at nearby Bethany in the late 1880s. The wines are made from hand-picked grapes, basket-pressed, and are neither fined nor filtered. There is an emphasis on single vineyard and single district wines under the Terroirs of the Barossa label.
Chateau Tanunda is the ideal location to celebrate your upcoming event whether it be your wedding ceremony and reception, conference, gala dinner, or exhibition.
Visit Château Tanunda’s Cellar Door for a wine tasting in the heart of the historic and atmospheric cellar amongst hundreds of barrels of maturing wine. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to guide you through a tasting of Château Tanunda’s award-winning Barossa wines in either a free bar tasting or a paid tasting flight of our premium wines. Our regional platters are a great way to make the most of the Château’s beautiful gardens and croquet lawn. Their cheese plates and platters are made with a range of local cheeses, dried fruit, quince paste, smoked meats, olives and chutneys.
The number one place to stay is our very own 'Vineyard Guest House'. Directly neighbouring our estate vineyard, you are within walking distance to the middle of Tanunda with all its restaurants, shops, info centre, gallery and of course Chateau Tanunda itself.
Daily guided Château Cellar Door Tours allow you to fully explore the wonderful history of Australia’s largest Chateau. The tour is around 40 minutes and kicks off with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine.
