In this neighborhood, there are many Russian/Eastern European markets to choose from and this one is definitely one of the smaller ones. They do have a lot of great stuff and I feel like they are more polite to non-Russians here than some of the others in the neighborhood.

Penzey's is a great resource for spices, herbs, mixtures and flavorings, and it is near the top of the list of spice shops. They have tons of spices, neatly organized, next to large smelling pots of that spice. you can take a whiff, get a feel for what you may buy, and then choose accordingly. Also, their prices are reasonable.
