Penzey's is a great resource for spices, herbs, mixtures and flavorings, and it is near the top of the list of spice shops. They have tons of spices, neatly organized, next to large smelling pots of that spice. you can take a whiff, get a feel for what you may buy, and then choose accordingly. Also, their prices are reasonable.
This is an Asian supermarket with fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, dry and cooked foods. The products focus seems to be more Vietnamese than Chinese.
Asia Supermarket does encompass Asian foods and chinaware. The prices are good, the produce is (mostly) good, and the selection is by far the best in Philly's Chinatown. If you want a specific type of soy sauce or chili sauce or bok choy, this is the place to get it.
Very convenient location and it seems cleaner than most other grocery stores in Chinatown. They stock quite a variety of Asian snacks, candies and drinks. It is a bit more expensive than other grocery stores in Chinatown but at the same time, more fresh. It's no H-mart/Han ah Reum but still...good for what it is
This place is consistently being restocked daily & they are not like other supermarkets where they put out all the older stuff first & hide the new stuff. The new stuff will become old stuff & look rotten!
King Market is a traditional green grocer, the same as can be found on almost every street in every city and village in China and around the rest of Asia. Everything is fresh, well presented, and out on the sidewalk where the natural light lets you see exactly what you are buying. Terrific source for exotic fresh fruit at very fair prices.
A fantastic shop filled with specialty cheeses, meats, pasta, sauce and all good things Italian (and non Italian). The selection beyond the meat and cheese includes all types, colors, shapes, sizes, packages, etc. of pasta. There is a wide array of oils, and an even more specific display of olive oils. Other items include breads, sauces, crackers, and a massive jar of nutella
Cheapest food shopping in the area if you need fresh food such as vegetables, seafood, meat etc. they also have a great selection of healthy foods such as raw nuts, seeds and berries for pretty cheap. An enormous selection of quality fruits, vegetables and the walls are lined with a wide variety of meats ... duck, pigs feet/legs, whole chickens and breasts/etc. and of course beef in every variety.
They carry hundreds of items imported from the Middle East for a fair price, just grab a basket and search for the missing ingredients to complete your recipe! Remember before you grab your apron and start making the famous egyptian foul, get the canned fava beans from here. Other than grocery products, they have a full Halal Meat section and cafeteria style eatery
