Large Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi supermarket off Brick Lane. This is a fantastic supermarket for buying all you need to make awesome Curries - amongst other great Asian Dishes. Don't let the name fool you, Bangladeshi are not the only dishes you can produce, they also stock S.E.Asian Iigredients too! There is a frozen food counter and a butchery counter at the back of the store.

Great Chinese supermarket in South London, which is a rarity. Lots of choice too, and prices were generally on par or even cheaper than in Chinatown. They  try to stock as much organic, locally grown produce as possible.

The shop acually extends out of the back into the alleyway where you'll find their selection of fresh vegetables and shellfish in aerated tanks. Not as big as Gerrard street stalwarts like Loong Fung or Loon Moon, nevertheless, there is a nice selection of goods over 3 floors.  Some of the restaurants look to be trying to draw in the tourists but Golden Gate is authentically for the local population.

New Loon Moon Supermarket is a small grocery store in Chinatown.  It is a great little shop and it has most of the things you need to cook a Chinese dinner. They carry all the obvious stuff, and some less obvious things as well like fresh jackfruit. They've also got non-Chinese food as well, including a lot of Korean & Japanese ingredients here. One area in which New Loon Moon definitely outdoes all the nearby competition is in its selection of canned, dried and packet goods. They have a lot of vegan meatsIf you need a Thai or Vietnamese cooking ingredient it is a fair bet that Starnight has it!  It's a large shop, packed with stuff. Nice selection of mostly Vietnamese foods, but a fair amount of Chinese products and some other random bits and bobs as well. Not tons of produce, but probably enough to get you going. The employees were particularly friendly and inquired after what I was making. It stocks a lot of ingredients that you would typically use in Vietnamese and oriental cooking like fish sauce, lemon grass stalks, MSG, soya sauce, oyster sauce etc.

As far as Chinese supermarkets/wholesalers go, Wing Yip have really got it together. They have four of these huge supermarkets in the UK, all with free car parking and easily accessible from the motorway. But not just Chinese. Here you can buy Thai pastes, a Japanese sushi kit, sample Indian and even grab offerings you wouldn't find anywhere else like Singaporean and Malaysian.

Probably one of the best Asian supermarkets in town. There is a  maze of shelves and sections of dried foods, canned goods, fish/meat and specialist fresh vegetables/herbs such as agar-agar and lime leaves. You can get dried, frozen and fresh ingredients, the latter including Asian fruit and veg as well as live lobsters for the brave! They also have a small selection of utensils and cooking paraphernalia such as steamers and pans etc.
